The farmers are encouraged to preserve the forest and its biodiversity with reforestation efforts.
Mama D's - Home to Rebel Tea
Located on the outskirts of the Sinharaja Forest Reserve.
Our teas from this estate have a dense yet smooth taste. Each sip is a little different. First there is chocolate. Maybe some cinnamon. Then pepper, cloves, nutmeg, ginger and lemongrass. The complex flavours take the senses on a journey, each spice telling its own story.
No chemicals, no artificial fertilisers or anything else man-made that has the intention of trying to hasten nature.
Learning the tale of an age-old practice known to produce the best quality tea.
Immersed in tea
We have spent many days at the larger of our tea estates, Haldamulla Plantation. We watch, we learn & we brew their fine, full flavoured, organic Ceylon teas, while learning first hand the difference between black, green & white teas and how the oxidation process enables those differences.
