Sally and Alex Pickers Pockets founders in Queenstown New Zealand

There's always a story

We are a proudly-owned New Zealand business founded by two women out to change the way we consume tea - for good.

After spending years in the hospitality & tourism industry, and our many visits to tea plantations in Sri Lanka, it was our own travel experiences that had made us change our tea drinking habits from the convenience of tea bags to the luxury and in fact common sense approach of loose leaf tea - direct from the tea garden.

The cuppa - born over a brew

We believe sharing a cup of tea brings people together, to celebrate, commiserate and sometimes just to chat. It was over a cuppa that Picker's Pocket was born - we realised that the answer to bring change to the tea industry was literally staring us right in the face! It made sense that we could combine our love of tea with our goal of making a positive impact.

Our Journey has led us to discover some innovative, artisanal tea connoisseurs who are doing great things for the communities in which they operate.

We've also had the opportunity to connect with a global network of people passionate about quality tea, corporate. social responsibility, sustainable practices and business as a force for good in whatever corner of the world they operate.

Bringing quality teas to the market

At Picker's Pocket, we are truly doing something unique. Our growers are at the heart of our business, and everything we do is focussed around how we can support the plantation communities.

Everything that goes into our teas & tisanes comes straight from nature - starting from the high-grade hand-picked black tea to the organically grown spices andNew Zealand-grown fruit. We're proud that our teas not only taste great, but they also make an impact - and we hope you love that too!

Founded in 2020

Picker's Pocket was founded in the South Island of New Zealand in 2020 over a cuppa. In that short space of time we have come a long way to supplying one of New Zealand's most sustainable accommodation brands and being invited to be a part of the Sustainable Business NZ influencers & experts documentary for 2021. Our quality product has been recognised by the NZ Artisan Food & Beverage Awards when we became finalists in our category.
